The family owned confectionery business started in 1926, as a small, manually operated, in-house confectionery products manufacturing unit for the local market. The joint family worked together at a small-scale.
As demand grew, a young member of the family envisioned a larger future—expanding beyond the local market to manufacture for other companies. This bold step marked the beginning of the Makson Group.
In 1972, our Founder & Chairman, Mr. Dhanjibhai, a mechanical engineer, visited an exhibition at Pragati Maidan, where he came across a double-twist wrapping machine. Inspired by its design, he decided to build confectionery machinery of his own.
With only a catalogue image as his reference, he began designing the machine from scratch. After eight years of perseverance and relentless hard work, he successfully brought his vision to life.
Our Chairman, Mr. Dhanjibhai, was honoured with the "Self-Made Industrialist" award in 1981, presented by Mohammad Hidayatullah, then Vice President of India. This was followed by several prestigious recognitions, including the National Award for Import Substitution (1983), the Export Award from the Government of India, & the LENCO Excellence Award for Best Industrialist & Philanthropist.
Under his leadership, Makson emerged as a leading manufacturer and exporter of confectionery machinery, supplying customers across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the America. The company has also delivered turnkey confectionery plants to global leaders such as Procter & Gamble in Nigeria and Kenya. Today, Makson proudly designs and supplies confectionery machinery to customers across India and around the world.
In the year 1983, Makson expanded as a contract confectionery manufacturer to renowned companies such as Nestle, Cadbury's, Unilever, Hindustan Lever Limited, Ranbaxy, Cipla, Himalaya, Boots Piramal, Knoll Pharma, Coca Cola, Blue Cross Labs etc. J & J awarded Makson the "Contract Manufacturer of the Year Award" for 2 consecutive years, 1995 & 1996.
Diversified into the OTC healthcare segment with the establishment of our first manufacturing facility in Mandideep, Bhopal. This marked a significant expansion beyond our confectionery business.
Expanded into nutrition with a dedicated manufacturing facility in Mandideep, Bhopal. Strengthened our capabilities to serve the growing health and wellness market.
Established our Hyderabad manufacturing facility to manufacture ointments and inhalers. This strategic expansion increased our production capabilities and reinforced our presence in the OTC healthcare segment.
Commissioned our latest state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Mandideep, Bhopal. Built to support next-generation manufacturing with enhanced capacity, technology, and quality standards. This same year, we expanded into soft chew innovation, developing products for out-licensing to global partners.
